A Note on Meditation Practice
Sitting in a meditation group is a beautiful practice at the heart of refuge. In silence we can find that stillness develops, concentration deepens, and awareness expands. Through training of the heart we find compassion, wisdom, and freedom. Beginning practitioners are encouraged to use the breath as a focus for mindfulness. The rising and falling of breath shows us in a direct way the universal truth of impermanence. After inner calm and steadiness arise from breathing, we are open to gain insight and awareness of sensations external and internal, emotions, and the nature of mind itself.
