Mariela Bravo
Mariela Bravo is a bilingual-bicultural certified Mindfulness and Compassion Meditation Teacher. She is the founder of The Mindful Hour, a project with the aim of bringing mindfulness and compassion practices to different communities especially to those with limited exposure. Since 2018, Mariela has been teaching and facilitating mindfulness workshops and groups online and in-person in both Spanish and English. She currently teaches at InsightLA Meditation Center, Mindful Heart Programs (MHP), and in a variety of settings such as schools, non-profits, clinics, corporations. She also co-led her first mindfulness meditation retreat in Spanish in 2020.
Mariela has been a dedicated practitioner of Vipassana/Insight meditation since 2013. She has more than 15 years of personal experience and studies in the areas of self-help, inner work, and self-healing with different holistic healing modalities. Mariela has a special interest and experience in mental health and suicidality that is informed by her personal experience with these topics. She was born in Mexico and has been living in the U.S. since she was a teen.
Her passion for sharing mindfulness and compassion practices is inspired by the human capacity for transformation and healing that she has experienced through these practices. The possibility that other humans can do the same is what inspires her to encourage others to attend a meditation class at least once a week since that is how she started her own journey to realizing the power and beauty there is in practicing meditation and living in the present moment.
Mariela is a graduate of MHP’ Mindfulness and Compassion Facilitator Program and InsightLA’s Mindfulness Facilitator Program. Before becoming dedicated to teaching mindfulness, Mariela worked as a professional in her other areas of study. She holds a B.A. degree in Business Management and Leadership, and Communications and Media, and an AA degree in Marketing, Applied Communications, and Social and Behavioral Sciences.
